جمعہ کا دن ہفتے کے ساتوں دنوں میں سب سے زیادہ افضل اور مبارک دن ہے ، جیسا کہ اس دن کی فضیلت بیان کرتے ہوئے رسول اﷲ صلى الله عليه وسلم نے فرمایا:” بہترین دن جس پر سورج طلوع ہوا جمعہ کا دن ہے ، اسی دن حضرت آدم عليه السلام پیدا کئے گئے ، اسی دن جنت میں داخل کئے گئے ، اسی دن جنت سے نکالے گئے اور اسی دن قیامت قائم ہوگی“۔(مسلم )

اس دن خصوصی طور پر رسول اکرم صلى الله عليه وسلم پر درود بھیجنے کی کچھ اور ہی فضیلت ہے، جیسا کہ حضرت اوس بن اوس رضى الله عنه روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اﷲ صلى الله عليه وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا :”جمعہ کا دن تمہارے تمام دنوں میں سب سے افضل دن ہے ، اس دن تم مجھ پر بکثرت درود بھیجو ، اس لیے کہ تمہارا درود مجھ پر پیش کیا جاتا ہے ۔ میں نے کہا : یا رسول اﷲ صلى الله عليه وسلم ! ہمارا درود آپ پر کیسے پیش ہوگا جبکہ آپ تو مٹی میں مل چکے ہوں گے ؟ آپ صلى الله عليه وسلم نے فرمایا : اﷲ تعالیٰ نے انبیاءکے جسموں کو مٹی پر حرام قرار دیا ہے “۔ ( ابوداؤد :1047)

درود پیش کئے جانے کی توضیح کرتے ہوئے علماءنے لکھا ہے کہ درود کے ساتھ اس امتی کا نام بھی رسول اکرم صلى الله عليه وسلم کی خدمت میں پیش کیا جائے گا جس نے اس درود شریف کا ہدیہ آپ صلى الله عليه وسلم کی خدمت اقدس میں بھیجا۔
